All Important Update: Recast of the WEEE Directive

Political agreement on the recast of the WEEE Directive could be reached by the end of 2011, according to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Steve Andrews, head of the enviromental regulation unit at the BIS, told stakeholders in London that a second reading of the recast was on track to take place in the latter half of this year, and if successful, he said that the new regulations governing WEEE could come into force in member states as early as January 2014.
